Bizarre Canadian GP.

If you ask me to describe F1 race at Montréal last week in one word I could say it was ‘Bizarre’. Multiple crashes and spins, cars crashing in the pit lane, F1 car reversing on the track (well you might say what is so special in that, but this is the first time I have seen it happen. People even doubt if F1 car has a reverse gear), bad track condition and top two team no where near to podium finish. All totally unexpected things where happening on Sunday.

Well last Sunday would be the most memorable one for BMW Sauber and Robert Kubica. It was their long deserved maiden victory. And BMW did it in style with their cars finishing first and second. BMW is a team to watch for in future. It is slowly but steadily improving it’s performance. It is good to see competition increasing on the track with Ferrari, McLaren and BMW fighting for the title.

Kubica had a brilliant race. After Lewis crashing into Kimi while coming out of the pit lane he didn’t have much difficult time. Once the traffic ahead of him cleared there was no stopping him from pushing his car to the extreme. He was gaining almost two seconds every lap on the driver in second position, his own team mate Nick.

One more driver to watch for in the race was Felipe Massa. After Ferrari spoiled his pit strategy he worked his way up in the traffic from seventeenth position to fifth.

But the person who had nightmare during race was Lewis Hamilton. After starting on the pole and taking comfortable initial lead things suddenly turned into disaster for him as most cars rushed into pits with safety car coming out on Adrian’s crash in Force India car. He went ahead to do a stupid mistake of not watching the red light at exit of the pit lane go on at last minute and crashed into Kimi finishing race of both of them. Actually more then Lewis it is the stupid rule which has to blamed. What is the purpose of stopping the cars entered in the pits during safety car is out? It is time some one reconsiders this stupid rule. Now Lewis faces penalty of ten positions on the grid for French GP for his mistake.

It was a fantastic race full of excitement. It would have been great if Ferrari had better results though. But I am happy for BMW for their first win.
